Leadership & Professional Development

The Engineering Leadership Summit (ELS) is Atlantic Canada's premiere, annual engineering leadership conference centered on providing leadership and professional development opportunities for engineering students in Atlantic Canada. Over 100 students attend ELS, making the conference a great opportunity to engage with and learn from ACES's partners, sponsors, and student leaders. During the day, delegates are given the opportunity to attend sessions offered by a combination of students and industry experts to broaden their leadership and professional skills, while the evenings are spent engaging with other students and industry professionals from a broad array of engineering fields.

Université de Moncton in New Brunswick Hosts ELS 2023

The Université de Moncton in New Brunswick hosted ELS from February 17-19, 2022. During this conference, a combination of students and industry experts led workshops with the goal to aid students broaden their leadership and professional skills. Election for the ACES Executive and a General assembly occurred during this summit.

Meghna Mandaliya

Meghna Mandaliya (she/her/Elle) is a Second Year Chemical Engineering student at the University of New Brunswick Saint John campus and is the Chair of the Engineering Leadership Summit Organizing Committee. She is also the President of the UNBSJ Undergraduate Engineering Society. She is excited to host this conference at UNBSJ campus and gain valuable experience throughout this journey. When she's not studying or working for UNBSJ UES, she enjoys going on adventures with her friends. Any ideas for the Conference can be shared with Meghna anytime!

ELS Chair responsibilities include:

  • Leading a team to organize the Engineering Leadership Summit

  • Managing the quality of the events, accommodations, etc. to ensure a successful event

  • Overlooking all aspects of scheduling, budgeting to track the progress of planning keeping the event on budget

Memorial University Hosts ELS 2021 Virtually!

From March 5-7, 2021, Memorial University hosted the virtual Engineering Leadership Summit. Approximately 80 students attended the summit, which featured resume, LinkedIn, and communications workshops, as well as a career fair and student-led discussion on the academic, personal, and professional impacts of the covid-19 pandemic.
